Discussion: Lower room fill differs from (1238) in being darker moister deposit but distinction is not
very sharp .Possibility of proximity to floor became of suggestion of lipping out of wall plaster.
.
7/8/96 yes, now clear that we are right above floor- wall plaster along north wall does lip out into room but is very patchy inside room . I have overdug it in places but nothing had been visible in the working section. Now also clear, due to my overdigging, that the small partition wall to west of 12 is only one course deep as it survives- yet another instance of later division of the internal space of the building.
Execution: Hand pick, trowel.
