Unit 12633
Category: Cut dug in 2006
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Assumed 'retreival' cut
Data Category Information: Description: posthole
Discussion: Cut of assumed retrieval. The obvious change in the fill of the foundation cut at this point indicated that there may have been an entrance into building 41. The mud-bricks which appeared to be 'lining' this gap also suggested this possibility. However, on excavating fill 12622 no threshold of any sort was visible. We now think that there may have been some sort of structure (maybe a stone threshold?) at this point- lined by mud-bricks- which was subsequently removed. This retrieval cut- 12633- was cut following the line of the foundation cut 12630 and was backfilled with a single fill - 12622. As such it is not easy to see.
Recognition: Identified by removal of fill 12622
