Unit 12664
Category: Skeleton dug in 2006
Area: North
Data Category Information: none
Discussion: Late Roman/ Byzantine burial of an infant aged 1.5- 2 years. The skeleton is within a tile and rock lined grave which was also covered by tiles. The grave is narrow (20 cms wide) and it is longer than the individual in jt by 17cm. The grave was truncated in its western portion by the foundation trench of the large, late Building 41. The head of the infant is almost entirely missing due to this truncation. The condition of the bones is excellent. There is some evidence of rodent activity in the western portion of the grave which may also account for the displacement of some bones.
