Data Category Information: Location: external; Deposition: finely bedded
Discussion: Mixed midden deposit - compound layer; lens of charcoal ash etc. Generally very loose and ashy. In well-defined cut to south, more difficult to find cut to west - more compact fill towards western edge, although still ashy,more mixed with mudbrick material. Could have taken as a separate yellow deposit/fill but included as part of (13159).
Recognition: Came down onto horizon where layer appeared more of a mix of colours - can see in section that compound layer with fine lens of charcoal, ash, pale brown material, etc.
Consistency: Loose / friable
Colour: Light grey / yellowish grey / pale brown
Texture: Sandy silt
Bedding: Compound
Inclusions: Frequent bone, frequent pot, occasional obsidian, occasional shells, occasional clay shapes
Post-depositional Features: Truncated to east and north by Byzantine foundation
Basal Boundary: Abrupt; distinct; smooth; flat
