Unit 1322
Category: layer dug in 1996
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: collapsed structure?
Data Category Information: In Situ: non in-situ; Location: building; Material: plaster; Deposition: layered (wall plaster)
Dimensions: 97 x 25 x 8 cm (A) & 74 x 16 x 32 cm (B)
Discussion: Fallen / collapsed plaster- either from the wall or more probably from a feature / installation on the wall at the same locality. Very probably, part of it lies in the pit (1325) especially piece (B) on sketch plan, while piece (A) lies on the edge. Either the pit cut (1326) displaced the feature or it had already collapsed and it was reincorporated into the pit fill (1325)- the latter seems more likely if the horizontal piece (A) lies outside/on the edge of the cut - perhaps (B) was originally horizontal too and joined to (A) this representing a single collapsed thin wall projecting out of the main wall - (see reconstruction sketch), which was cut by the pit.
