Interpretive Categories: discard between walls

Data Category Information: Location: between walls; Material: animal bone; Basal Spit: plaster molded

Dimensions: N-S 50cm, E-W 60cm, D, ~.1m

Description: Two large clumps of grayish, burnt plaster and animal bone. The northernmost clump is ~30cm N-S, ~15cm E-W with a rise in elevation in the middle. The southernmost clump is triangular in shape, ~25cm N-S, ~25cm E-W, with burning in the form of another triangle inside. These are both sitting on two cow mandibles which run E-W, further definition will come as it is excavated. There is also a horse toe in the western portion of the cluster.

Discussion: Upon removal of the cluster the northernmost mandible came into view. There was an organice/mixed lens between the plaster and the mandibles, suggesting that they were not immediately associated with each other pre-deposition. The triangular plaster changed shapes and the inner portion became smaller, and an additional set of photos was taken. The mandibles were removed after being conserved and there was a small whitish lens under each as they came up. (The progression of the triangular piece of plaster is documented on the sketch plan.)
