Unit 13796
Category: Layer dug in 2006
Area: Trench 5
Data Category Information: none
Dimensions: EW 0,8m - NS 0,8m - 0,2m deep
Discussion: TEB 10.8. 2006: This is the second layer of fill between the plaster walls of a probable building. It was definitely more loose and containing much more mortar than the unit fill above it, 13795, however, the interface was note clear, but instead quite undefined.
AJEP 9.07.2007: This unit was continued from the 2006 season - room infill (top layer) in the building in the southern end of the trench. This unit continued this layer into the baulk of last year - the room was well defined by plaster lines on all sides. The unit came down onto another arbitrary spit, 14279.
Recognition: Different fill to 13793; more mortar
Execution: Trowel, leaf trowel, brush
Condition: Dry, hot
Consistency: Firm
Colour: Greyish
Texture: Mixed fill of clay lumps and sandy silt loam aggregates
Bedding: Mixed (heterogenous fill)
Inclusions: Large pieces of ceramics (can fit together), obsidian, bone
Post-depositional Features: Root and animal disturbance
Basal Boundary: Down to bare level of mudbrick wall grave 2403
