Data Category Information: Location: external; Deposition: finely bedded

Discussion: Mixed ashy layer of midden. Thicker and more layered towards south end.

Recognition: Obvious mixed midden layer - aware of for some time as taking unitsoff - saw in plan first when checking to see if grave cut.

Definition: Clear

Execution: Mattock

Condition: Dry and hot

Consistency: Friable

Colour: Light to mid grey / pale yellowish brown

Texture: Slightly sandy silt - ashy

Bedding: Layered - possibly more so towards south of unit

Inclusions: Frequent animal bone; moderate obsidian; moderate pot; occasional worked stone

Post-depositional Features: Truncated by Byzantine foundation cut to east, by pit cut (13169) to north and grave cut (13189).

Basal Boundary: Distinct base to unit to west and north; deposit peeling off cleaner green unit beneath, however towards SE of unit this horizon harder to follow - green still there but thinner and more patchy - below the green another mixed midden deposit similar to 14120. Abrupt; distinct or faint; smooth; inclined north to south and west to east.
