Unit 1500
Category: cut dug in 1996
Area: South
Data Category Information: Description: posthole
Dimensions: 0.78m N-S, width (E-W): 0.45m N, 0.28m S, 0.65m dp
Discussion: DESCRIPTION: 1)shape in plan unknown due to Mellaart.: cut to west. As excavated wedge shape/rectangular. 2) Top unclear - see discussion r how many cuts we have! Base (just above for horizontal) 3) N and S ends are practically vertical. N end has an abrupt 90 degree junction with the base; S end has 45 degree break of slope, running down to join the flat base c. half way across. E edge undercuts the overlying deposits. DESCRIPTION: I suspect this is an original cut, undercutting the wall and make-up layers, which was later re-cut by 1095 (which truncated the cross- wall adjacent to t1500) to the S). Shahina thinks it is all one cut. However from my observation during excavation - carried out by me and Cicek (mainly Cicek), 1095 follows the line of the E wall, and cut through the upper part of the fill of 1500, leaving a skim of brown clayey/bricky fill in the undercut part of 1500. Shahina disagrees. This one could run and run!
