Recognition: Colour, texture. 

Definition: Grey, charcoal rich layer underlying layer of red burnt brick. Good. 

Execution: Mattock, full N-S extent revealed in trench, since desired depth reached 

Condition: Dry, hot, dusty. 

Consistency: Loose-moderately compact. 

Colour: Mid-grey. 

Texture: Charcoal-rich clay silt. 

Bedding: Massive. 

Inclusions: Occasioal plaster flecks. 

Post-depositional Features: None. 

Basal Boundary: Base not reached.
