Description: -made up of "cone cut" wood
-preserved quite well (presumably by dense clay rich fill)
-very thin - upto 1-5cm wide
-forming rectangular shaped box
-some evidence for wood in base, and cross slats/supports for the lid (the latter apparently caved in under weight of fill (15014)
-wood was dark brown and brittle
-showing grain - crumbled when handled 

Discussion: coffin for bizantine/late roman burial

-made of wood - showed evidence for base and top cross braces 

Recognition: woodin coffin - not soil 

Definition: good/clear 

Execution: excavated with trowel/mattock, after being planned, not saved apart from small wood sample 

Condition: hot - still
