Discussion: Burnt mud brick tumble within space 336. This layer consists of large chunks of mud brick ans plaster within a finer brick crush / silt. Some of the bricks are near complete and many elemts have been retained for further study as they may include roofing elements and botanitcal information. Many of the bricks measure to .19m wide - where as all visible bricks still within their structural context measure 0.32 - 0.35m. It is at present unclear where there bricks were located.
This was prior to the removal of what turned out to be later phase walls. B77 walls are 0.19 m wide. 

 

Recognition: bound on the south and west by walls, colour and texture 

Definition: clear 

Execution: trowel 

Condition: hot 

Consistency: moderate to friable 

Colour: mid reddish brown 

Texture: clayey silt 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: frequent fragments of mud brick; very occasional animal bone, obsidian, shell; occasional stone and clay ball 

Post-depositional Features: root action and animal burrows 

Basal Boundary: clear in places onto soft brick crush in others difuse as the material below the brick crush is similar, irregular boundary
