Discussion: Isolated spread of charcoal rich ashy layer, comprises of lenses of clay and coprolite. Appeared to be isolated dump but probably not excavated that way. 

 

Consistency: moderately weak 

Colour: 10YR 5/2 (greyish brown)/ 10YR 3/3-5/4 (brown to yellowish-brown) 

Texture: silt 

Bedding: layered 

Inclusions: 30% charcoal (>1cm); 10% chalk (>5mm); 2% coprolite layers; 1% small stones >5mm 

Post-depositional Features: none 

Basal Boundary: diffuse, anthropogenic, sloping East to West

Unit description: X1 is an antler spoon. HF-Tiny unit made up of 1 bag of D.S and 1 bag of >4mm flotation. The D.S included 2 sesamoid bones and a horse distal radius epiphysis. The 4mm flotation was highly processed fragmented pieces with no identifiables, but most likely to be sheep-size fragments. There is no evidence of burning, gnawing or digestion.
