Discussion: The surface of Trench 5 was cleaned in the entire Trench. This deposit was a mixture of fine scraping and the spoil (in some cases compacted) that remained from the process of backfilling last year (where the bags were broken by root action).

This layer is arbitrary and is a record, primarily of the loose finds. These include pot sherds, animal bone, lithics, shell, glass and small finds.

Unit not dry sieved because the finds are unstratified and the result of cleaning the remains of the backfilling.
