Unit 16924
Category: Layer dug in 2012
Area: Trench 5
Interpretive Categories: Plaster Floor
Data Category Information: none
Dimensions: EW: 19 cm; NS: 15 cm; Depth 6 cm
Discussion: Lying at a higher level than u. 15371 and in between this unit and u. 15341 (the highest lying of the floors that have been found in the N half of sp. 446), u. 16924 is a fairly homogeneous lump of white plaster, with a depth of approximately 6 cm connecting u. 15371 and u. 15341. Although no flat surface has been found in this unit, unlike u. 15371 or 15395, it could be interpreted as a highly disturbed replastering event of u. 15371 towards its E side, on which 15371 lies. Interestingly, no evidence for further replastering of u. 15371 on its W side has been found, which might be an indication the the eastern area of this floor might have had a longer life history than the west.
Season 2013: Unit was removed as part of collective unit 31186 in 2013.
