Unit 16927
Category: Layer dug in 2012
Area: Trench 5
Interpretive Categories: Plaster floor
Data Category Information: none
Dimensions: NS: 24 cm; EW: 20 cm; Depth: 8 cm
Discussion: This unit (16927) has been interpreted as a plaster floor lying directly underneath plaster floor u. 16927 and above a layer of fill (as revealed by the stratigraphy of the section of this floor). It could be suggested, therefore, that, in the absence of other floors beneath it, u. 16927 might have been the initial floor surface on this area, undergoing subsequent replastering events, as represented by u. 15398 and u. 15371 (described elsewhere). The boundaries of this dark orange brown floor are clear to the S and W, where it disappears, but not to the N, where it lies under u. 15398, or the E, where it seems to continue into the E baulk.
