Discussion: 2012
This unit comprises a plastered surface that was constructed prior to the upper wals of B.106. Currently the layer has been exposed below wall F.2427, buttresses F.3301 and F.3302, as well as under the eastern parts of walls F.2408 and F.3351. It is also visible in the walls faces of all walls of Sp.310 and Sp.454. Most likely the plastered surface was constructed on top of lower wall structures, that may or may not have been the sae layout as the upper wallls. It seems as if the plastered surface follows the outlines of the walls. A connection to other walls or features can not be distinguished. A small sounding in the west exposed the srface below wall F.5058 as well. Whether the plaster runs up to or below wall F.2424 (B.105), which would give a relative sequence for these buildings, remains unclear. The surface was prepared on an irregular, slopeing surface, which was probable due to an uneven sublayer possibly represented by the ruined tops of the lower walls. It seems as if these walls were not particularly level before plastering and subsequent construction began. The material of the plaster is very fine with a high content of sand, similar to the wall plster or 'plug plaster'also used in B.10. The true extent of the plastered surface is not yet known nor whether it extends further than the visible outline of B.106. Almost certain is that the layer lies below the remainders of walls F.5058, F.2408 and F.3351. In some spots the plaster was applied quite liberally, up to 3cm thick, and in other parts almost no plaster was identified between the upper grey bricks and the lower red bricks. This was most evident below F.3301 *much plaster and steep slope) and F.5058 (less plaster and flat slope). In this small soundings, differences in plaster texture was also identified, with some areas below F.5058 having almost a pure sand consistency, while below F.3301 the plaster was less sandy and more white in colour similar to the eastern area.

2013 The plaster U.16999 is recognised through its very distinctive colour and texture. All other material are easy to scratch off from it and the outlines were clearly visible. A section in wall F.5068 showed that U.16999 does not connect to it, but is seperated by a ca. 5cm thick interfill. On the west side of the building 106, the surface of wall F.3312 was cleaned and scratched in order to show the extends of U.16999 and another layer U.31223 (see that sheet for sketch and further discussion). U.16999 extended clearly to that wall, it overlapped from the neighbouring continuous layer for ca. 6cm and occurred as several patches on the surface. It did not extend to wall F.2424 (F.3380) though. U.31223 seems to be on top of U.16999.
As the unit as been recorded before, no dimensions or top levels were taken.
