Discussion: This unit comprises the mortar material below brick u. 17291. The Material was collected seperately from the brick for floatation purposes. A comparison to the inclusions and make-up of the brick will then be possible.

Initial analysis shows some potsherds and very few fragments of animal bones within the clayish material. This may confirm the notion that sherds or stones were inserted into the mortar during construction.
