Discussion: Clearing the top of Feature 112 to understand better its enigmatic construction. We dug the softer deposit laid between hard "mortar". The "mortar" shows successive vertical faces which are connected to the remnants of a plastered floor. The whole construction now gives the impression of a platform with successive remaking of its Northern edge. This hypothesis is supported by the structure of the lines of "mortar" which seem to be layered in a characteristic manner, so they look much more like plaster than mortar. The final reconstruction would be the addition of the northernmost wall which runs at oblique angles to the previous reconstructions but vertical to wall 104.The whole construction was at that point covered with plaster which is surviving on the east face of it. Traces of the red colour are also visible, therefore the platform/construction was apparently painted. Six remakings in all are definable. The relation of the successive phases with the floors of the building is not yet definite. However, judging from the levels of the different phases it seems probable that they are all related to floor 117, I.e. the lowest floor revealed in the trench. This is based on the fact that the plastering of the last phase is stratigraphically related to that floor.
