Discussion: Area of heavy burnt timber in SW corner of B77 sp336. The deposition of this layer may also indicate the source of the fire which corresponded with burnt patches on the walls. The layer consists of large charcoal lumps and wood ash - some silts mixesd in from (16479) and (16481) above.
The material surrounds an in situ burnt structural timber wood. Wood ash was observed elsewhere over sp336 but the concentration was here in other parts it was often less than 2mm between the brick crush/ demolition material and the floors.
The layer covers a cluster of stone and animal bone in the floor. (17517) including a dog jaw and eagle size bird claw.
