Discussion: This is a fragment of N-S wall made of two courses of mudbricks and some kind of constructional infill between (17679). This wall sectio appears to be deliberately destroyed during the rebuilding of the older wall (17683). Both courses of bricks were cut off and the space between them was then filled with rubbish composed of numerous constructional elements. The wall consisted of two courses of bricks. Their dimentions are as follows (as seen from S to N):
Upper course: 0.30x0.20x0.08m; 0.36x0.24x0.08; 0.40x0.27x0.08; 0.40x0.26x0.09; 0.36x0.25x0.28.
Two bricks making up the upper part of the pilaster (17675) were built into this course of bricks.
The lower course of 17680 was badly desroyed, so only their widths were to be measured (from S to N): 0.76; 0.44; 0.42; 0.41.
The lower course was made of different kind of bricks originating from the older wall (17683). They were dark gray in colour and their texture was silty clay.
The mortar of this wall was recorded as unit 17681.
