Unit 17800
Category: Layer dug in 2008
Area: TP
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: wall/blocking; Material: brick
Dimensions: 8.80 x 0.90 x 0.32
Discussion: This is a solid double wall on N-S alignment and placed in central part of the trench. It probably comprised the eastern wall of B 73. It is parallel to wall 17691 and 17694 placed from the eastern side. It is younger than the latter. The wall was made of considerably similar in shape and dimensions oranguish bricks. They were separated by c. 3-5 cm thick mortar(17801).
The wall was made of 3 courses of bricks. Bricks of lower course were placed in pairs in two parallel rows and were similar in dimensions. Te upper course was made of regularly placed bricks and the wall itself appears as completely independent structure. However, both- the middle and the lower course are stretched against two older wall- perpendicular 13088 from the west and parallel wall 17691 from the east. This was achieved by placing couple of bricks on remaining parts of the wall. These perpendicular bricks are deliberately set against bricks in the above mentioned walls. The wall was built on a kind of rubble infill that consisted of mixture of bricks, mortar and grayish clay layer (17805).
