Data Category Information: Location: in abandoned building; Deposition: coarsely bedded (dumps)

 

Dimensions: 0.68m E/W 0.60m N/S 

 

Discussion: Layer almost indistinguishable from layer above. This layer the south west part of the lower wall and sloped up against the south part of the bin and underlay the 'brick' joining the s/w part of the wall (brownish) to the greyish part of the wall which forms the s/e corner and runs towards the wall to the north. Further down the layer became less homogenous with larger pieces of charcoal, visible coprolites and lumps of olive brown 2.5Y 4/3 building material. The layer was very compact and peeled away from the plastered side of the bin with difficulty. Dry Sieve Information: Figure problematical 

 

Execution: trowel 

Condition: stormy threatning rain in morning sunny and windy in afternoon. On the second day it was sunny, not very windy with a little bit of cloud in the afternoon. Quite pleasant really. 

Consistency: moderately firm 

Colour: 10yr 3/2 very dark greyish brown 

Texture: clay loam 

Bedding: layered 

Inclusions: < 10% charcoal, <2% bone, shell, coprolite, clay ball fragments, white mortar fragments 

Post-depositional Features: some root action 

Basal Boundary: Wavy anthropogenic, diffuse in places
