Unit 19397

Category: Layer    dug in 2012

Area: South

Interpretive Categories: floor

Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: general; Material: mix (dark grey&white); Deposition: single; Basal Spit: unpainted

Discussion: The floor was located in the western part of the space 470. Its eastern section was truncated, and its surface was badly preserved. The terrible condition of the layer was revealed by recording crumbled face of the coat, as well as its diverse depth and layering in several locations within the unit. For instance, there were 2 coating phases identified along the bench (partition wall ?), in central part of the space 470. However, in its Western section there was only one phase evidenced. The quality of preservation might be involved with activity taking place in the area in its younger stage (see unit sheet 19394). Additionally, it appeared that directly below the floor there was a kind of make-up layer, comprised of mid-grey silt that unfortunately was embedded with the above described mid-white surface. Due to the fixed nature of both layers it was unworkable to excavate them separately. Therefore, both layers had been taken off together as the same unit.
