Unit 19445
Category: Layer dug in 2012
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Burial Infill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: burial; Deposition: heterogeneous
Discussion: Really disturbed late burial infill. The infill composed of neolithic rubble from sp. 1002 and grey mud brick associated with the later burials in the area. It was clear that the mud brick constituted a part of the burial, but that the body was also covered by the material avaliable immediately around, which was burnt rubble from sp. 1002. The boundries were diffuse and we hope to get a better idea of the shape of the burial after removing the infill. One nail that was found in the fill hints that the body was buried with/in a coffin.
Recognition: Grey brick material associated with late burials
Definition: Defined poorly, but by texture, color, and the fact that the bones have been sticking out
Execution: Skewers, brush, leaf trowel
Condition: Dry, crumbly, and pretty much terrible
Consistency: Friable
Colour: The mud brick used to lay over is grey, infill is greyish brown
Texture: Sandy clay loam
Bedding: Massive
Inclusions: Neolithic rubble (mostly that, varies in material - clay chunks, plaster bits, burnt brick stuff) some pieces of charcoal
Post-depositional Features: Animal burrowing, root holes, and a lot of trampling
Basal Boundary: Sharp
