Unit 19624
Category: Layer dug in 2011
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Ashy fill of ladder scar
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: pit
Dimensions: .52 m EW, .73 m NS, x .05 m
Discussion: This mottled ashy clay loam was easily distinguishable from the section of grey-brown clay immediately to the west of it, with a nearly perfect north-south boundary line. The fill continues to descend, potentially even lower than the bottom of the built edge, which is why we stopped excavating this unit when we did. It was consistently deepest in the SE corner, suggesting that the cut it fills [19630] may proceed deepest in that corner as well. This may represent a fill of the widest and latest cut associated with a ladder hole in the the SE corner.
Recognition: Ashy layer identified with removal of plaster surface (19621)
