Unit 19668
Category: Cut dug in 2011
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Burial Cut
Data Category Information: Description: burial
Dimensions: .26 m x .38 m x 0.27 m
Discussion: Unit is a semicircular shaped cut into plaster floor levels below makeup layer (19662) in the central floor area of building 97. The cut is located near the Nmost edge of the central floor area. The cut is located next to and is truncated by cut [19634], a later burial cut containing the burial of a juvenile. The W and part of the S edges of the cut has been truncated away. The cut contains fill (19667), a compact greyish silty clay mix with heavy plaster and charcoal inclusions which contains burial (19670), a juvenile leg (side unknown) and possible partial foot. The cut is approximately .27 m deep and the N edge of the cut appears to be a few cm lower than the S edge. The cut (eastern edge) is located very near to platform f. 3457. Due to the presence of a series of thin plaster floor levels present in the eastern profile of the cut, it seems that the cut/burial feature was initially associated with the latest of these floor levels in the series, before (19662), the next makeup layer.
Recognition: trowel, removal of makeup layer (19662) in central floor area
Definition: trowel, extent determined by presence of plaster floor lenses in profile
Execution: trowel
Condition: cool
Shape: semi-circular (roughly)
Sides: slopes most severely on East side, more gradual n N ends
Base Break: slope breaks gradual in NW and SE corners, otherwise a sharp break
Base: base of cut level, deepest in center, highest on NW/SE sides
