Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: hearth; Deposition: homogeneous

Dimensions: 1,1 m (E-W) x 0,94 m (N-S), 0,05-0,1 m thick

Discussion: Rounded hearth built up of clay, outlined with 0,1 m high and 0,15-0,2 m wide rounded walls. The southwestern part of the hearth lining had been pressed somewhat towards the centre of the hearth, due to pressure from later midden infill that has been pressed between the hearth and the wall of the building. The outlining walls were difficult to separate from the floor level (same texture) while the floor (the central part) of the hearth easily separated from the layer below.

The hearth had been constructed on top of another earlier fireplace. U. 19695 that has been interpreted as a possible fill may be a burnt part of the construction U. 19697 (see U. 19695).
