Discussion: We removed some of the plaster from the Northern Wall (F. 3505) - the plaster on the left (Western) half and up to about 40 cm from the floor on the right (Eastern) half. Some portions came off easily while others were quite difficult to remove, likely because part of the wall had to be conserved since it had been exposed for years after the Mellart excavations. Often the many layers were visible.
Additional description 07.07.13:
Last year parts of this unit was removed, but the last 0,4 meters were left standing. This year the rest was removed and a stratigraphy was shown where the wall plaster meets the platform F3507 and the lower floor level west of this. In a crack between the platform 3507 and the floor (platform? F3508) to the west it was the clearly visible that the outer layers (ca 0,02-0,03?) of the wall plastering within the unit has been applied after the floor u19723 was constructed. The inner ca 0,02 meters of the plaster u.19705 (closest to mud brick and mortar u19706 and 19707) clearly goes behind (on the inside of) and below the platform F3507. The middle part/layers of 19705 goes into the platform and its various make up and plaster layers. This visible stratigraphy has been photographed. /JB 07.07.2013
