Unit 20173
Category: Cut dug in 2012
Area: TPC
Interpretive Categories: Pit cut
Data Category Information: Description: pit
Dimensions: 1.10 x 0.90 x 0.57 m
Discussion: This cut is a part of the late period pit feature 3934. It had relatively clear boundaries defined by slight differences in texture and color at the surface. Within the pit, the soil was very soft, making it easy to define cut walls. This cut also appeared to truncate a neolithic period wall 0.27 m below the surface. This wall looks like a continuation of f. 3910 in trench 1. Jutting out of the cut section was an oven construction of probable neolithic origin. The pit arrived at a clear base of much more compact soil of clay and what looks like a midden.
Added 2013:
During the season it turned out that the pit was underexcavated, see feature sheet 3934.
