Unit 20701
Category: Layer dug in 2012
Area: TPC
Interpretive Categories: Pit fill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: pit
Dimensions: 0.85 x 0.96 x 0.07 m
Discussion: U. 20267 is a layer of greyish brown loam clearly distinguishable from u. 20267 around it (which is red mud brick). It signifies the fill of f. 3950, which may have once been two pits but is not identifiable by the fill as such. Left unexcavated at end of 2012 season.
2013: The two pits are now distinguishable from each other. 20701 now refers only to the fill of the more northern pit, f. 3950.
2013: 20701 is not fully circular. 20701 is a later deposit than the more southern pit. This fill is extreely shallow, and contained very few finds. The reason for this pit is unclear, although its relationship to other features is intriguing.
