Unit 20801
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Infill layer in cut
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: pit; Deposition: heterogeneous
Discussion: This unit was defined by the cut into the plaster floor, and then by the termination of the floor stratigraphy. The basal boundary could also be observed in the wall of the (lower) abutting pit (F. 7000). Infill of the house below may have been used to fill the cut because the makeup appears very similar. The infill was a rough matrix with many different types of inclusions. Finds that were a part of the flotation sample were largely found on the eastern side of the crack in the floor, which is marked in plan.
Consistency: strong/compact
Colour: light brown
Texture: silt
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: charcoal 5, plaster 2%, (small pieces 1mm-1cm), orange-brown clay pieces (less than 1%)
Post-depositional Features: probable trampling
Basal Boundary: diffuse boundary. Less plaster inclusions in lower layer. Also determined by the stratigraphic layers of the cut, which ends distinctly over the house infill below.

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
