Unit 20926
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Bin fill
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: bin; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: This unit was recognized under room fill u.20481. It was limited by bin walls (u.20955). It was a homogenous fill which was packed and required some strength when using the trowel. It was quite thick and even so seems to represent a single event of filling. Some ground stone fragments were observed, one x-finded (x.1). In the western part the basal boundary was very clear, showing a nice plaster base. In the east it was much harder to see when it stopped, possibly because there the base of the bin perhaps was more dirty floor-like. However when moisture and colour changed it became clearer.
Consistency: Hard to excavate with trowel which I did anyway.
Colour: Brownish yellowish grey
Texture: Homogeneous silty clay
Bedding: Massive and packed
Inclusions: Inclusions of plaster and phytoliths
Post-depositional Features: None really
