Discussion: This unit was recognized with a regular oval shape in plan beneath a patch of floor (u.20986). It was situated in F3699 and was a fill in a cut in this feature (u.20997). It was a quite massive layer, but truncated by animal furrows. Approximately six cm down, the cranium of a neonate was detected, as well as a packed gray clay lense. Initially I thought this was a new fill, but as excavation preceded (carefully of course) it became obvious it belonged to the same filling event. All layer was sampled, but in two separate samples because of the confusion of lenses (see above).

Even though disturbed by rodents, the fill was quite homogenous and did not contain finds of any particular nature, except X1, an obsidian flake piece, by the baby and a phalanx of animal in the top of the fill.

Consistency: Moist, packed soil. Friable with trowel.

Colour: Light greyish brown

Texture: Sandy silt

Bedding: Massive

Inclusions: Small sized pebbles (few) inclusion a grey packed floor lense ca 6 cm down.

Post-depositional Features: Big root etchings, animal furrowing, especially in its eastern part

Basal Boundary: Clear and abrupt
