Unit 21039

Category: Layer    dug in 2014

Area: TPC

Interpretive Categories: midden

Data Category Information: Location: external; Deposition: coarsely bedded (dumps)

Discussion: This is a midden located in N part of the trench 4, visible at the surface. A micromorphological block sample was taken from the section and the rest of the midden will be excavated in 2015.

2015:
This unit was fully excavated during 2015 season. However, this compound midden layer recognized separately as the latest midden deposit among the rest distinguished in close proximimity midden accumulations, it seems to be highly possible that this unit is a simple continuation of much larger midden U.31832. Both these accumulations distinguished as separate units because of the lack of direct and clear stratigraphical relation between them. From the stratigraphic standpoint, the unit is post-Neolithic in date.
This compound midden layer contained plenty badly preserved animal bones fragments without any articualtion as well as some late pottery. It has been unclear what residential structure directly relates to this deposit.
