Unit 21334
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: infill of scoop F.7586
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: scoop; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: The scoops F.7586 & F.7585 were the first to be recognized during the removal of u.21311. Actually, a small part was already exposed by the erosion.
They are the most prominent of the scoops surrounding hearth F.1482. Indeed, their infill are both very black and ashy. They were thought to be the same before a cut was recognized between them.
Infill u.21334 (scoop F.7586) is also different than infill u.21332 (scoop F.7585) by a more important quantity of bones and charcoal (some of them being pretty large).
Consistency: loose
Colour: blak grey
Texture: ashy
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: lot of charcoal of different sizes from small to medium (~20%)
Post-depositional Features: truncated by the cut u.21331 of scoop F.7585
Basal Boundary: bottom of the cut u.21333 shows signs of heat and the infill u.30539 is thus harder and more black than usual. The contrast is still very promonent and the distinctness very sharp.
