Unit 21364
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: External edge of hearth
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: hearth; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: External and older hearth edge made of very compacted alluvial clay and probably plastered, judging from the few fragments of badly preserved gypsum plaster found on its upper surface. The internal face of this hearth lip is scorched, and a few structural cracks suggest that it probably had to be repaired with the addition of the internal hearth lip U.21302.
Gypsum reprecipitation is visible on the top surface of this unit and on its edges.
This hearth edge is sitting on top of calcitic ashes in its W side, part of the infill unit 21358.
