Unit 21393
Category: Floor dug in 2017
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Platered floor
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: general; Material: mix (dark grey&white); Deposition: composite (floors/bedding/plaster/packing/occupation)
Description: This is a plastered floor in the very SE of Building 52, space 94; North of Annex space 255.
Discussion: U21393 is a series of floors of which some survive in patches. The surface of these floors was exposed during previous excavation seasons. Exposure for years and sweeping for cleaning prior to excavating this year, did not help their preservation. Furthermore U21393 had been truncated often by animal burrows, and also covered negative and positive features, such us: F8512, F8520, F8519. As a result, the identification of the floor below (U23496) happened with great difficulty and required extra attention, for the additional reasons that these two floors merged into each other. It was evidenced that U21393 was replastered regularly: thin layers, not well preserved, were identified throughout its depth.
