Unit 21557
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: brick
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: wall/blocking; Material: brick
Discussion: The top of wall F.7103 was removed in order to find the relations between b.49, b.113 and sp.99. The bricks were removed at the same time as the western wall, F.3678, was excavated.
A thin line of infill was seen between the W wall and F.7103. The infill was about 0.01 meter thick. The wall is disturbed by rodents in the corner. A younger wall, F.7326, needs to be removed in order to see the "section" of wall F.7103. This will not be done during excavation in 2014. Description of the bricks:
Level 1. Soft eroded light yellow sandy clay mud bricks. Crumbly with a high amount of phytoliths and a small amount of plant remains. The brick was 0.62x0.32x0.05 m.
Level 3. Firm light yellow brick. Sandy with phyoliths, a few plant remains. Sample 3.
The bricks are cut by a younger feature in b.49. The unit 21156 is the top part, highly eroded, of the wall created while cleaning.
