Category: Layer dug in 2017
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: floor,makeup
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: general; Material: white clay; Deposition: multiple; Basal Spit: unpainted
Description: sequence of floors and related make-ups in Sp.170 of B.17.
Discussion: This is a sequence of the earliest floors and related make-ups in the main room Sp.170 of building B.17. These deposits were excavated as one block as it was hard to follow any of the individual layers. The plastered surfaces were heavily truncated by burial pits and in most cases formed layers that only partially covered the main room area. For example, two local replastering events were noticed in the SW part of Sp.170 with regard to construction of oven F.8036. On the other hand, the floor was hardly preserved in S part of the main room.
Consistency: firm
Colour: white/light grey (floor), grey/ ppale brown (make-up)
Texture: lime (floor), sandy silt (make-up)
Bedding: compound layered
Inclusions: natural stone, rock fragments, phytholiths, clay agregates.
Post-depositional Features: truncation by numerous burial pits and post holes.
Basal Boundary: change in accumulated deposits, distinct, smooth, inclined in SW direction.
