Discussion: The unit is situated inside the hearth and it is a hearth infill. The surface of the unit is uneven and the unit is very compact. It was very thin on the sides (N, E, W, S) of the hearth and thicker in the central part. The layer was very compact and thick, and compared to the upper infills, it had no clear evidences of burned materials. his layer was the last layer inside the cut of the hearth. All these elements allowed us to interpret this layer as a substructure made during the installation of the hearth as a kind of insulating material. Moreover, the material used to make this layer seems to be the same used to build the rims.
