Description: mortar within southern wall of B.77
Discussion: Mortar (U.22038) was associated with bricks U.22037 and they altogether constituted the southern part of partition wall (F.3099) of B.77. It was possible to record 10 layers of the mortar within the mentioned wall. Worth noticing is the fact that the prepared paste comprised of pure clay without the temper or any inclusions. The latter caused eventually appearance of relatively wide vertical cracks that emerged as a result of conflagration that occurred within the interior of the B.77. Hence, in the upper part of the wall which effected the most high temperature, the mortar was compact and baked - like pottery. Described material used to join the bricks varied in thickness reaching in average 4-5cm. Additionally, within the whole structure of the wall there were no irregularities recorded considering the alignment of the mortar.
