Discussion: Identified as a separate unit from surrounding oven units thanks to colour and texture. The very firm texture did however match U16772, and the division of the two units was very vague at places.

I interpret this unit as a foundation layer for oven F4060.

The unit was excavated by leaf trowel.

Colour: Yellow 

Texture: Silty clay 

Bedding: Massive 

Inclusions: Charcoal, grass in the centre 

Post-depositional Features: Animal burrow 

Basal Boundary: Very sharp
