Discussion: The mortar is spread along between bricks 22231 horizontally and vertically. It is very heterogenous so can be difficult to distinguish as bricks are uneven in shape. It is not evenly layered but applied to fill gaps in an often wavy manner. 

Consistency: firm 

Colour: mid and light grey 

Texture: clay, sand ash, silt 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: chorcoal small 5% , burnt clay orange medium 10% , clay aggregates grey medium 10% , natural stone medium and small 2%, small white 2% plaster 

Post-depositional Features: small disturbance by roots; lots of small animal burrows 

Basal Boundary: constructional , sharp and clear , distinct, wavy, flat, rough
