Category: Layer dug in 2015
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Bricks to bench construction
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: oven; Material: brick; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: Unit is a series of gray, fine, silty pise bricks, about 27 of them, which were used to form the core of bench F. 7415, along with a thick plaster mortar U. 22437. The bricks appear to be organized in 3 courses of long-ways oriented e-w. There is a 4th course at the very top that forms the step of the bench on top, which also directly abuts wall F. 5014. Therefore, the original shape of the bench was created throughout the placement of these bricks, and maintained throughout the architectural remodeling and rennovation of the bench. The bricks are slightly staggered in the courses, with smaller bricks located at the w. edge as well as at the top.
