Unit 2252

Category: Layer    dug in 1997

Area: North

Data Category Information: none

Discussion: Most of the material that was removed appeared to be various architectual components.
From the beginning we had the evidence of plaster (possibly collapsed/slumped?) in the E area of the section as well as what seems to be collapsed brick wall (appearing as outlines of mortar in NW area of the section).
The architectural rubble that was dug through consisted of burnt and unburnt brick and plaster as well as painted plaster. The painted plaster probably comes from the slumped or collapsed wall although interestingly the painted surface is not the most recent but under a few layers of regular white plaster.
At the base of the unit are five lumps of gypsum, ranging in size from only a few cm to a good size chunks about 12 cm long and 4 wide. Also, there is a small, so far unidentifiable plaster figure poking out of the baulk against the north wall.
