Description: A rectangular posthole in the north part of the area. It was oriented on an east-west axis and was 15x8cm at the top. The post tapered down to a point to a depth of 19cm. Wood possibly oak.
Discussion: This unit was recognized following the excavation of room fill u. 22635. It is the remnants of an engaged post on the N wall F. 7707 in space 500. It was excavated by Marvin Demicoli according to the protocol set by Eleni Asouti. It was cleaned, photographed and eventually excavated. Sediments from the surface cleaning were kept as a sample (S1), while the large charcoal lumps were bagged as a separate sample (S2) from the smaller charcoal fragments (S3) that were sent for flotation. It was impossible to wrap the charred posts in string in order to pull it out as a whole and were therefore excavated trying to extract the charcoal in as large pieces as possible.
