Dimensions: covers area ca. 0.40m sq x ca. 2-3mm thick 

 

Discussion: A very thin lens of reddish brown deposit. the contours of this follows the underlying deposit faithfully, indicating that this may have been a textile or a deposit equally pliable. I f it had been liquid this would have filled the dips and hollows but as it is it doesn’t. This is part of a deposit that Wendy thinks may be felt. As yet it's not been identified. As textile it is very similar to (2011) which has not been excavated this season, if the same then (2323) could represent a fold in the textile which would result in other deposits infiltrating the folds and creases thereby separating and dividing the 'textile' deposit as a whole

Colour: on first exposure 10 R 3/3 dusky red, after exposure 5 YR 3/2 dark reddish brown

Basal Boundary: very clear & distinct from underlying deposit, very wavy & uneven, one dumped deposit
