Description: U23478 was the remnants of the fill of Pit F7620 which was identified and partially excavated in 2014. 

Discussion: U23478 was light grey and clayish, stuck at the edges and bottom of Pit F7620. During the 2017-exc.season scraping took place for the edges and the bottom of this pit to be revealed. No sample was taken for archive or flotation because it was assumed that a sample had been taken when the pit was originally excavated; and also the scraping of the edges did not produce any significant or uncontaminated quantity of soil for either samples.

Inclusions: Low percentage of flecks of charcoal
