Dimensions: 0.22m diameter, 0.23m deep 

 

Discussion: Very distinctive fill of post-hole [2357], lots of burnt material and obsidian working debitage. There was no sign of a post-pipe and it seems likely that the original post was removed and the hole was backfilled with rubbish consisting of burnt material and knapping debris, probably locally derived 

 

Execution: trowel 

Condition: warm and bright 

Consistency: moderately weak 

Colour: 10YR 4/2 dark brownish grey 

Texture: silt 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: frequent charcoal - 2%, obsidian - 2%, ash - 30% 

Post-depositional Features: none apparent 

Basal Boundary: sharp, prominent, smooth, flat
